After dealing with the onset of Covid-19 in 2020, job seekers have reassessed their priorities and are willing to move onto something different. So what will it take to attract and retain the best people in today's modern job market?

If you offer benefits that are still focused on an office-based workforce, you're going to lose ground on the new hybrid-working world. This new normal involves people working from home, four-day work week, or hybrid work. With that, employers have to come up with benefits that are not one-size-fits-all, but instead flexible and work for each individual employee.

When job seekers reassessed their priorities, they also realized their purpose in life, and are seeking out employers with the same values. People now realize what's important to them, and for some it means transferring into a company they believe in. In addition, most job seekers nowadays value diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace, and it's a must for companies to kickstart these initiatives.

Aside from shared values, it's also important for job seekers to be assured that companies will open learning opportunities for them. Providing professional development opportunities will keep people engaged and productive, which is beneficial to a company's success.

Honest feedback and recognition

People want to know if they're doing a task correctly, and they appreciate honest feedback and recognition. However, it is also important for employers to provide a safe space for them to receive your feedback and at the same time, provide feedback to the company. Creating these safe spaces will help strengthen employer-employee relationship.


Nowadays, job seekers want more than a steady paycheck. It can be flexibility, shared values, career growth, or safe space for feedback and recognition. But the question now is: are you willing to start the change in your company?
